Ping Pong Ball Launcher Challenge

This individual project will challenge your design and fabrication skills.
Your goal will be to create a mechanical device that shoots a ping pong ball using only one human touch in order to hit a target(s)

Targets will be 3 standard pop cans 12 feet away. Students will have 2 minutes to knock them over as many times as possible (cans will be reset) to get points.

Students may need to supply their own materials in order to create their project

Supplied materials:
  • Mouse Trap (may not modify the original mouse trap as it must be re-used for the next project)
  • Rubber bands
  • Any scrap wood in our bins

Rules:
  • Your ball may not be modified in any way (not allowed to fill it with cement or modify it's weight)
  • You should have a safe release mechanism in order to shoot your device
  • One human touch (you cannot throw the ball or swing around like a sling shot)

Total build and design time will be 6 classes
