Main Steps: (Watch the video for in depth instructions)
1. Cross file then Draw file face and edges of 18" piece of 1/8" x 1/2" (or 1/8" x 3/4" for a wider handle) mild steel flat bar (I buy whatever is cheapest from my supplier)
2. Bench grind (or file) the ends after tracing a penny or dime
3. Layout 3 holes as per drawing. Center punch and drill three 9/64" holes
4. At the 1 3/4" bend line bend at a 45 degree angle using a bench vice, hammer, and your muscles
5. Clamp at center using locking pliers. Bend around 2" pipe to get final shape of handle
6. Cut out and glue shovel head tracing to 18 gauge sheet metal
7. Use Beverly shear/foot shear/snips to cut out shape.
8. Center punch both layout holes but only drill the top one 1/8" or 9/64" (depending on available drill bits)
9. File and sand until it is awesome and looks like the paper drawing
10. use slip roll former to bend the shovel head
11. Counter sink the single hole on bottom of handle
12. Use 1/8" round head rivets to join the head and handle
13. Drill second hole through the shovel and countersink the backside the same as step 11
14. Rivet and file excess rivet on bottom of shovel until it feels smooth to the touch (or until I say it is good)
15. File, sand, and paint!
