Metal Picture Frame Project
The purpose of this project is to create a decorative wall hanging piece with the inside “artwork” being 100% made by you about something meaningful to you. You are creating the “picture” and the frame.
The main outer frame should not be larger than 10x10 inches of 25x25 centimeters. The shape of it is only limited by your ideas. Popular starter frames are squares, circles, triangles, or stars.

I recommend flat bar between ½” and 1” wide for the frame but you can use other materials if you check with the teacher first.
- Inside the main frame will be your “artwork” that should be created from metal, gears, copper wire, short ends from the scraps, sheet metal, found materials from home or nature, etc and should create an interesting shape, meaning, logo, band name, brand name, musical shapes, animal silhouettes, etc
- On the back of the main frame there needs to be a way to attach your piece to a wall
- Whatever design you choose for the inside needs a way to be attached whether that is welding, fastened with rivets, wire wrapped and attached.
- Finished piece should be polished or painted and be sanded smooth where needed.
